Anna McVeigh MA
I completed an MA with merit in Translation and Terminology at the University of Pau in France where I held a language assistant position and taught English as a Foreign Language. Whilst completing my Masters and teaching first, second and third year students (and on occasion MA students), I gained a qualification to teach French as a foreign language (FLE - Diplôme Universitaire de Français Langue Etrangère). I studied translation in three languages, terminological research, library database information systems, computer-assisted translation techniques and interpreting. I compiled and wrote a terminological study in French on dyslexia and second language acquisition for my Master's dissertation. The Master's I completed in France required me to write a second report on the common practises within a translation business.
I finished my degree in Portsmouth with an Upper second-class Honours in Applied Languages, a degree that primarily leads to a career in translation or interpreting. My degree included a TESOL certificate to teach English as a foreign language. During my degree I studied linguistics, translation and interpreting. I wrote my dissertation on code-switching practises in bilingual Greek and French individuals living in Brussels.
